The Basis Of Our Confidence In Prayer

The Basis Of Our Confidence In Prayer

by Pastor Chinedu Emmanuel

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6

Prayer is very important in our walk with God here on earth. Prayer is when you go to God and make your case. The bible says, “ Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified. (Isaiah 43: 26). Prayer is having a conversation with God; make your case and God will respond.

I recommend that you take time to meditate and study the scriptures concerning prayer, so you will have a personal revelation about prayer. Believers need to stop relying on unverified traditions and practices of men regarding prayer but on their personal conviction from God about prayer. Be careful not to study the word carelessly and take out important things. Whatever the Holy Spirit put in your heart is important and necessary.

Life will be frustrating when we don’t know God’s intention for us. Set your affection on the things above. Seek the will of God – the purpose of prayer is to establish the will of God on earth as it is done in heaven (Matthew 6:10). Establishing your personal will is not God’s plan, your will means nothing and will take you nowhere. So, deliberately seek His will. Knowing and praying according to His will is a major source of confidence in prayer. “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us” 1 John 5: 14 KJV.

The intercessory ministry of Jesus is exactly what Christ is doing right now on our behalf. It is the basis of confidence we have when we go to God in prayer. The gift of acceptance and righteousness – to come to the presence of God was made possible by Jesus. The reason we can have grace and mercy from God is because of our faith in Christ Jesus. Salvation is a complete package –access to God,  healing, total deliverance, financial blessings, new life called eternal life (the life and nature of God) and so on. God loves us with a love we may never understand.

If Christ did not rise from the dead, the Bible says, we would have been miserable (1 Corinthians 15:14). He had to rise to take that blood to heaven so that the pattern and order of things would be complete. Just like the high priest used to take the sacrifices into the most holy place, so did Jesus take the blood of the new covenant to the place of atonement. We need to know the Lord Jesus as our great high priest.

You don’t earn the righteousness to come into God’s presence. No one is good and none will be good enough to pay the price that has already been paid. God’s righteousness is transferred to us when we no longer rely on our own works (Philippians 3:9). You get it when you believe in Jesus. It is faith that transfers it into your account. Your faith needs to grow to this understanding.
Praying in the name of Jesus is another basis for our confidence. The name of Jesus is powerful. Whatever you ask in His name, you will receive and your joy shall be full (John 16:24). That name has favour in heaven. Praying in your name won’t get you anywhere just like the Pharisees. Follow the word of God to be your lamp and light in prayers and your prayers will always bring results.

“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” John 15:7 KJV.
