Job 19:25-27 “But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body, I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!”

Every believer should be overwhelmed with excitement by the mere fact that God loves us. This is a truth the devil doesn’t want you to know. This was Job’s revelation in the passage above. He knew that regardless of what happened, God would still be faithful to him. Therefore, to maintain victory over the enemy, it is important that you know who you are in Christ. The devil does not want you to have this revelation, so he will use all kinds of distractions to make sure you forget who you are. He wants you to see yourself as an object of pity when you go through challenges. The enemy wants you defeated but God wants you to pick up your identity tag and make bold of who you are. This consciousness will help you face life situations when they arise.

Your identity is who God says you are as declared in the word of God. It strengthens you and makes you unique. Your identity distinguishes you because you are marked with the blood of Jesus. You are not just a no-body, you are a child of God!

“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.”  John 1:12-13 (NLT).

Your identity is rooted in believing and accepting what God did for you through Jesus Christ. So, when God looks at you, He sees Christ who gave you the right to become His child when you believed and accepted Him. When going through challenges, the devil rightfully identifies you as a child of God but your situation makes you experience ‘memory loss’ of who you are in Christ and this gives the devil an advantage over you. Be conscious of who you are as a child of God in good or bad times. When you face the enemy, do so with the authority in the name of Jesus because it is at your disposal to use.

Key Points to remember:

• • Never forget who you are even in tough situations. Do not give the enemy a chance to deceive you with a temporary condition so that you forget who you are. It doesn’t matter how long the challenges are, hold on to the memory of who you are. Don’t ever get into a situation and forget that He is God. You are God’s child and regardless of the situation, He is still God! Do not give up your dreams. Situations come and go but your identity will stay forever.
  • When you are sure of your identity, you will never be negative about yourself.

Psalm 34:11-13 “. Never speak a lie or allow negative words to proceed from your mouth. Telling lies is saying or believing the opposite of what God says about you. When you oppose what God has called you to be, you are lying. Telling lies is cursing what God has blessed. When you do the opposite of what God is telling you to do, you are cutting yourself short of what God has in store for you.

• • Cursing yourself can prevent your identity from manifesting. For God’s word to manifest, you must be in agreement with Him. You are cursing yourself when you are living in the opposite of God’s will for you. When you don’t believe, you are cursing your identity and preventing it from coming into fulfillment. Stop overanalyzing God’s word,  hold on to who He said you are.
