Remember Who You Are

Remember Who You Are

By Pastor Victor Anjorin

Job 19:25-27 “But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body, I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!”

It is important for every believer to realize that God loves them, and to be excited by this truth. Job, in the passage mentioned above, knew that God would remain faithful to him regardless of his circumstances. To maintain victory over the enemy, it is essential to know your identity in Christ. The devil will try to distract you from this revelation, but it is crucial to remember who you are. The enemy wants you defeated, but God wants you to boldly proclaim your identity as a child of God. This awareness will help you face life’s challenges.

Your identity is who God says you are, as declared in the word of God. It strengthens you and makes you unique. You are marked with the blood of Jesus and are not just a nobody; you are a child of God!

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.”  John 1:12-13 (NLT).

When you believe and accept what God did for you through Jesus Christ, your identity is rooted in that. So, when God looks at you, He sees Christ who gave you the right to become His child. The devil may try to remind you of your challenges to make you forget your identity in Christ, but you must remain conscious of who you are as a child of God in both good and bad times. When you face the enemy, use the authority in the name of Jesus that is at your disposal.

It’s important to always keep in mind who you are as a child of God, especially when facing tough situations. Don’t let temporary setbacks or challenges make you forget your identity. Remember that no matter how long the challenges may last, you are still a child of God and He is still in control.

Your identity is important and unique, and it will stay with you forever. It’s important to hold on to your dreams and not give up on them, no matter what you may be going through. If you have a strong sense of your identity in Christ, you will never be negative about yourself. Negative self-talk or believing lies about yourself can cause you to doubt your worth and value as a child of God.

Psalm 34:11-13 advises against speaking lies or negative words about yourself. When you oppose what God has called you to be, you are essentially lying and cursing what God has blessed. By doing this, you are cutting yourself short of what God has in store for you.

For God’s word to manifest in your life, you must be in agreement with Him and believe in His will for you. Overanalyzing or doubting God’s word can cause you to doubt yourself and your identity. Instead, hold on to who God says you are and trust in His plan for your life.
