Transformed in Faith: Becoming Christ-like

Transformed in Faith: Becoming Christ-like

By Pastor Uche Ezeanya

Galatians 2:20 “My old identity has been co-crucified with Christ and no longer lives. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives his life through me—we live in union as one! My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much that he gave himself for me, dispensing his life into mine!”

God desires the very best for us. Out of His deep love, He draws us close not as distant followers, but as His beloved children. While the world’s standards often leave us feeling stuck and unfulfilled, true freedom comes when we place our trust in Him. Trusting God lifts us out of ordinary living and into the extraordinary life found in Christ.

Colossians 2:6–10 reminds us to walk closely with Jesus, aligning our actions with His character. Like roots digging deep into the soil, our faith becomes strong and grounded in Him. This kind of rooted faith naturally leads to a spirit of gratitude. But Paul also warns us not to be misled by human ideas or philosophies that sound good but lack spiritual truth. Instead, we are called to hold tightly to Christ, because He is the fullness of God, and in Him, we are made complete.

In today’s culture, many are drawn to comfortable, feel-good messages, avoiding the harder truths of Scripture. But our faith grows through engaging with God’s Word truth that both comforts and challenges. The more we anchor ourselves in God’s truth, the stronger and more unshakable our faith becomes. Knowing that we are complete in Christ gives us confidence to stand firm, no matter what comes our way.

We can think of ourselves as vessels carrying something incredibly valuable Christ Himself. His presence within us reveals the glory of God. From the moment we begin following Jesus, His light begins to shine through us, sparking change from the inside out. This transformation not only impacts our own lives, but also serves as a witness to others. When people see Christ in us, it can inspire them to seek that same life-changing relationship.

God’s goal isn’t just for us to behave like Christ it’s for us to be transformed into His likeness. Galatians 2:20 tells us that our old life is gone, and now it is Christ who lives in us. This transformation is not something we achieve through our own effort, but through the faith and power of Christ working in us.

Romans 12:2 speaks to this process: “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” This transformation happens as we immerse ourselves in God’s Word, allowing it to reshape how we think, what we value, and how we live. Over time, this spiritual renewal changes our hearts and actions, making us more like Jesus.

God has always planned for us to be conformed to the image of His Son. Romans 8:28–29 reminds us that for those who love God, everything both good and bad is used for our growth and transformation. It’s part of a bigger picture where Christ is the center of it all.

Ultimately, our purpose as God’s creation is to live in a way that pleases Him. This is not something we do in our own strength. Philippians 2:13 assures us that it is God who works in us, giving us both the desire and the power to live according to His will. Becoming like Christ is the work of the Holy Spirit in us a process that unfolds over a lifetime. As we grow in faith, soak in God’s Word, and yield to the Spirit’s leading, we become living testimonies of who Christ is and what He’s done.
