Reigning in Life Through Christ pt. 2

Reigning in Life Through Christ pt. 2

By Pastor Chinedu Emmanuel

Daniel 11: 32b “But the people who know their God shall be strong and do exploits.”

Reigning in life does not happen by accident. It is the result of a life intentionally aligned with God, knowing Him, understanding His will, and choosing daily to live in a way that pleases Him. Scripture often compares the Christian life to a race, and like every race it has rules. The most important rule of this race is simple yet demanding we are called to live to please the Lord.

Living to Please God

The call to please God shapes every aspect of the believer’s life. Scripture reminds us that a soldier does not entangle himself with civilian affairs because his goal is to please the one who enlisted him. In the same way believers are enlisted for one primary purpose to please the Lord. Paul echoed this when he said that whether we are at home in the body or away from it we make it our goal to please Him. This was not merely a teaching it was the rhythm of his life.

Holiness Grace and God’s Boundaries

Holiness should not intimidate believers. God is not asking us to struggle to become something we are not. In Christ we were created in true righteousness and holiness. To live holy simply means living according to the new nature God has already given us. Grace does not remove responsibility it empowers it. God never gives empowerment without responsibility and the new life we have received in Christ calls us to live in alignment with that life. Grace also provides boundaries. These boundaries are not religious restrictions but protective guardrails designed to preserve us and keep us fruitful. Scripture warns against sexual immorality covetousness uncontrolled anger and destructive speech because these things damage lives. God’s instructions exist so that our joy may remain full not diminished.

Guarding the Heart Against Distractions

Living to please God requires focus because distractions quietly compete for our devotion. Jesus warned that the Word of God can be choked by the worries of life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things. These distractions slowly shift our attention away from God. Many appear spiritually active in public but lack intimacy with God in private. It is in the private place where no one is watching that true devotion is formed. God works deeply in private before He works powerfully in public.

Walking by the Spirit

Scripture contrasts living by the flesh with living by the Spirit. Fleshly desires are driven by the senses, what we see, feel, hear, touch, and taste.  The Bible warns that these desires wage war against the soul. When believers are led by impulses rather than by the Spirit, the result is instability, immaturity, and division. Those who live according to the flesh cannot please God, but a Spirit-led life produces peace, self-control, forgiveness, and love. The difference lies in whose voice we choose to follow.

Knowing God’s Will Through Christ

Human wisdom often feels appealing because it seems logical and comfortable, but Scripture warns us not to lean on our own understanding. God designed His wisdom so that it cannot be fully grasped through human reasoning alone. Without the Holy Spirit, spiritual truth appears foolish. This is why transformation requires a renewed mind. At the center of knowing God’s will is Jesus Christ. He is the clearest picture of God’s heart and purpose. All of Scripture points to Him, and in Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. As we grow in knowing Him, God’s will becomes clearer and our lives align naturally with His purpose.

Reigning in Life

We were created for God’s pleasure, not our own, and we cannot reign in life apart from Him. God works all things according to the counsel of His will and when our lives are aligned with that will, He works in us through us and for us. When God leads, the battle becomes His, and when He directs, victory follows. Reigning in life requires focus, surrender, and intentional obedience. This path may not always make sense to the natural mind, but it leads to strength, stability, and lasting fruit. Those who truly know their God will not only stand firm, but they will be strong and do exploits.
