Reigning in Life: Subdue and Dominate

Reigning in Life: Subdue and Dominate

By Pastor Chinedu Emmanuel

Genesis 1: 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

As we journey through 2026 under the theme “Reigning in Life,” we are called not just to sing about victory on Sundays but to live it daily. Reigning in life is not determined by our emotions, the challenges we encounter, or the opinions of others; it is defined by walking in the authority and dominion we have through Christ.  To reign is to subdue and dominate, moving beyond the misnomer of powerless Christianity into the reality of God’s power in every area of life.

Battle of Reports

Every day, two testimonies present themselves: the Testimony of Men, based on circumstances, fears, and appearances, and the Testimony of God, based on His Word. The story of the twelve spies in Canaan illustrates this well. Ten focused on the giants and reported fear. They marketed unbelief until they saw themselves as grasshoppers. Caleb and Joshua, however, held fast to God’s promises and rejected the evil report. They provide a blueprint for reigning in life: your testimony must align with God’s Word, not the reports of men.

Training Your Spirit for Reality

Reigning doesn’t happen by accident, it is developed through spiritual training. God is not a distant idea; He is real. Know that every prayer and act of worship is conversation with a living God, not empty words. Stop the people-talk.  Shift your testimony from what others are doing to what God is doing in your life. This steady focus strengthens your dominion.

The David Method: Boasting in the Lord

David faced Goliath without formal training (1 Samuel 17:45). He relied on the Name of the Lord. “This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand… that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.” Just like David, Caleb, and Abraham, reigning requires being fully persuaded of God’s promises so that your testimony is unwavering even in the middle of trials. Victory begins in the spirit before it manifests in the natural.

Move Beyond Mediocrity

True dominion comes from total surrender. Step aside and let Christ take control. Surrender opens your spirit to see what the natural eye cannot perceive, guiding your steps in alignment with His will. Reigning in life is not about casual faith; it’s about alignment with God’s Word, consistent testimony, and spiritual discipline. Your testimony is your victory; it is what carries you through giants, challenges, and unbelief. Let 2026 be the year you subdue, dominate, and reign in every area of your life.

Reflect and Respond

  • Reflect: Are your daily words and actions aligned with God’s testimony, or are they influenced by the testimony of men?
  • Respond: This week, identify one area of your life where your testimony wavers. Speak God’s Word over it daily and surrender control to Him. Record the changes you notice, and let your faith manifest through consistent action and testimony.

Prayer:  Precious Father, help us to move from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat. We surrender the keys to You. Reveal Yourself as the Living Reality in our lives so that our testimony remains “Yea and Amen” no matter what we face. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
